初三的一个英语小问题

我一直不理解 on the other side of 什么意思？？
是警察局的另外一侧？可是 填入next to，又错了。。。

题目也是人出的，其实很多题目，出题者都没有搞清楚到底试试很么意思。on the other side of the police station，就说明还有个什么东东在 one side of the police station。one...the other,都是搭配用的。那么这句话，我分析，可能是在说医院在警察局对面，不妨可以试填opposite to.
