country, nation
两者都可译为“国家”，但含义不同。

country 指国家时，侧重疆土或人口， 又作“乡下”讲。如：
China is a socialist country.
中国是一个社会主义国家。

nation指国家时，侧重民族。如：
The whole nation is /are rejoicing.
举国欢腾。

nation比较正式

country, nation, state
