1、记忆策略
记忆策略是指各种帮助学习记忆的方法和技巧，其原理是将有关的学习内容进行整理，组织和联系，以便于充分挖掘和利用大脑储存信息的巨大潜能。这显然与文化背景有关，在中国文化里，记忆策略历来是求学的一个传统，一直受到学习者的高度重视，被认为是学业成功的重要条件。就英语学习而言，记忆策略也是中学生用的最多的一种学习策略，因为对于中国学生来说，英语学习最困难就是英语单词，再说单词是组成句子的基本元素，如果连单词都不认识，又谈何理解句子呢？所以从一开始，老师都要求学生背单词。可是我们往往发现传统的死记硬背收效甚微，记得不久也不牢，但我们也会发现如果用以下的方法来记忆单词又会有让我们意想不到的效果。这些单词记忆策略是英语学习中最基本的策略。这些策略包括：
（1）把单词的音、形、义结合起来，利用读音规则“听音写形”记忆单词。
（2）利用合成、派生、转化构词法规则记忆单词，扩大词汇量。
（3）记单词时要眼看、口念、耳听、脑记且要动手，运动记忆，五官并用。
（4）利用最佳时刻记忆法，强化单词记忆。而多数人最佳记忆时间为早、晚，即每天的两端时间。
（5）运用形—义、音—形联想记忆法记单词。例如aural(听觉的)和oral(口头的)这两个单词音同、形同、义同很难区分，我们就可以这样记忆：把aural的第一个字母a想象成“耳朵”的形状，把oral的第一字母o想象成张大的嘴巴的形状，这样记忆就又清晰又容易了。例如：tomb的读音为[tu:m]，很象“土墓”，进而联想出“坟墓”的含义。
（6）利用分类归纳法记单词。例如将读音相同但形、义不同flower及flour放在一起对比记忆。
（7）利用同义词、反义词、同族词等对比联想记忆法记单词。还可以运用阅读记忆法，在上下文中复习旧单词，学习新单词。
（8）制作生词小卡片，随身携带，采取零打碎敲、游击战方式记忆单词。
（9）运用循环记忆法，强化单词记忆，战胜遗忘。
