Catch 意思是捉住，抓住
Catch up 是追上，赶上

Climb 是爬
Climb up 是爬上

Up 是上比如up that mountain (那座山上）但也用在词组里比如 wake up (起来/起床）come up with (想出来）口语里 Eat up (吃吧）Drink up （喝吧）比较粗鲁的 shut up (闭嘴）

跳高是High jump
跳远是Long jump

live 是生活（动词）比如we live and we die （我们生活，我们死亡）
live in 是生活在/住在 比如I live in China (我住在中国）

catch: [ kætʃ ]v. 抓住；赶上,了解（它还有名词的意义，此处只讲动词）
当它作“了解”时，是及物动词，后面可直接跟名词，如：
I don't catch your meaning. 我不明白你的意思。
当它作“赶上”时，是不及物动词，要用一个介词up才能与名词接上。 如：
He shut himself away for a month to catch up on his academic work. 他与世隔绝一个月，力图把功课赶上去。
I have to work hard to catch up with the other students. 要想赶上其他同学, 我得特别努力才行。

2.climb:爬。单独使用时可表示“抓（向任何方向，上、下、左、右。。。）”。当与up连用时，即“climb up"只有“爬（上）”的意义。例句：
Cats often find it easier to climb up a tree than to climb down. 猫爬树往往是爬上去比爬下来容易些。
