4. Conclusions
The rigorous heterogeneous model developed for
the HR is used in this study to investigate the per-
formance of this configuration. Hybrid configuration
improves the performance considerably, namely in-
creasing ethylbenzene conversion, styrene yield and
selectivity. The magnitudes of the increases are quite
appreciable together with the production of additional
product which is cyclohexane by the utilization of the
permeated hydrogen through the membrane. A design
for the hybrid reactor was proposed with longer length
compared with the industrial case, as thermodynamic
barrier has been broken. The values of styrene yield
reaches a very high value of 87%. The quantitative
predictions obtained using this rigorous model should
be reasonably reliable, however, they still need to be
checked experimentally.
