矿山废水的处理是当前我国有色金属矿山面临的环境保护的重大研究课题之一。

废水处理系统设计为无人值守的形式，涉及到很多独立的小系统。废水处理过程还涉及到化学反应平衡的控制，也就是说控制系统存在滞后环节(如pH值的控制)，因而要使这一系统稳定运行并使废水达标排放要做相当多的工作。根据废水的流量计算加入反应器的各种化学药品，使化学处理能正常进行。通过在出水箱中加人HC1调节最终出水pH值。当出水浊度不合格时，采用停止废水进入系统，将出水箱中的水重新打回至中和反应池中，进行再处理。澄清池中污泥的自动排放。通过澄清浓缩池中的泥位检测仪测量澄清池中的污泥量，控制系统根据污泥的高度实现对罐中的污泥向压滤机排放的控制。
最后，分别从厂址选择、总平面布置、高程布置、主要构建物、设备及投资估算进行选矿废水处理厂设计。
