转化法是英语形式新词的重要方法之一，各种词类的词经常转化，致使一个词往往可以用作几种词类。在这一点上，英语颇与汉语相似。Like这个词最初是形容词，以后转化成副词、介词、连词、名词，又跟它的动词可以任意用作定语，起形容词的作用；一些形容和副词同形。英语的词类转化，数量最多的是转成动词和转成名词。
