If you are using a splitter or some other device between the fax and he wall jack,remove it and connect the fax directly to the wall jack.
If your HPdevice is connected to a private Branch Exchange (PBX)rather than the public telephone system,the Dial Tone Detection test may fail.However,you should be able to successfully send and receive faxes.
