The cup of fairness is cleverly produced based on the Syphons Principle. It has a short vertical column on cup centre which commutes to a small hole on the base. This is the principle of hydrodynamics in physics. More specifically, the wine can flow upwards and then downwards through a convex pipe. As the convex pipe as a upside-down-U shape, with one side longer than the other, the pipe should be filled up with liquid when used. The convex pipe connects the two holes inside and outside of the cup respectively with one longer side, therefore the small circular bulge mapped by the short cylindrical column is the top end of the whole convex pipe. When the water level in the cup is lower than or equal to the bulge point, water will not leak out of the convex pipe. However when the water level is higher than the convex pipe it will create pressure and hence all water will leak out of the cup through Syphons principle.
