随着人类驾驭自然的本领按几何级数增长，向自然环境摄取的物质和抛弃的废弃物就越多。人类对自然环境的影响和干预越大，自然环境对人类的反作用就越大。当自然环境达到无法承受的程度时，在漫漫岁月里建立起来的生态平衡，就会遭到严重的破坏。
