摘 要
阎立本是初唐时期的一位杰出画家，他在艺术上继承了南北朝的优秀传统，并认真切磋加以吸收和发展。从传为他的作品里所显示的刚劲的铁线描，较之前朝具有丰富的表现力，古雅的设色沉着而又变化，人物的精神状态有着细致的刻画，都超过了南北朝和隋的水平，被誉为“丹青神化”而为“天下取则”，对于这样一位在绘画史上占有重要地位的画家，实有必要对他的绘画作品、风格特色等进行深入细致、全面系统的研究。
为了搞清楚以上问题，我决定撰写《阎立本生平及其绘画作品初考》，首先，考证阎立本的家世以及生平，因为家世、生平是研究阎立本的基础。其次是对阎立本的绘画师承渊源进行梳理，再次，对历代著录中记载的阎立本绘画作品进行整理、研究，这是研究阎立本绘画风格和特色以及剖析阎立本美学思想的基础。
通过搜集资料，发现阎立本有着非常显赫的家世。自后汉的阎章，一直到隋代的阎毗，在五百多年中一共传了十五代，差不多每一代不是将军，便是太守。而阎立本的父亲阎毗的妻，恰恰又是北周武帝宇文邕的女儿清都公主。因此，阎立本的出身应该被列入皇亲国戚之列。对于历代著录中记载的阎立本的绘画作品进行了认真的分类、辨析。按照人物画和其他两大类进行分类，在人物画中又按道释人物、写真、纪实人物三方面来进行详细的分类阐述。此外，对传为他的传世作品《步辇图》、《萧翼赚兰亭图》、《列帝图》、《职贡图》、《锁谏图》也结合收集到的资料进行了初步的考辨，经过考辨，我认为这五福作品都不是阎立本的真迹。
