Greed and guilt

Greed and guilt are seemingly opposing forces
One leading to evil, and the other leading to good
Greed taunts men to do the unfathomable
Guilt teaches men to be remorseful

Greed stems out of human nature
Guilt stems out of human actions

When we see a pile of gold offered to us
It is greed that drives us to accept
When we have unreasonably hurt another
It is guilt that drives us to apologize

In a way, guilt and greed make each other whole
For greed creates guilt in its own way

When men become too greedy and avaricious
When men begins to take what is not rightfully theirs
Guilt springs into existence, temporarily overcoming greed

Pour your streams on this sweet place
Make this little heaven open her bright eye
