"far more Japanese workers expressed dissatisfaction with their jobs than did their counterparts in the 10 other countries surveyed"这句话的意思我明白，但不明白than后的主谓为什么要倒装？是因为主语their counterparts后面的定语太长吗？
把did提到前面来，只是想要那种文绉绉的感觉吧，完全没有必要。...than their counterparts did in the 10 other countries...已经是很正宗的英语。
现在要谈的是expressing of dissatisfaction (道出他们的不满)而不是workers (数目). Expressing 是一个动作/举动，所以要放 did. They did something; expressing their dissatisfaction. (他们做了一件事/举动；道出他们的不满)
PS：不懂这样说，你明不明白。我是新加坡人，所以有一些Verb/Noun等的字眼我不是很会翻，希望你谅解。 ^^
