Uncle Wang works in a book shop in the middle of the city.the shop is not far from his home.It is about one kilometre away.So Uncle Wang seldom goes to work by bus. He usually goes there by bike ,sometimes on foot .It takes him twenty minutes to get there by bike and forty minutes on foot .Today his bike is broken .He wants to walk there .Now he is having breakfast.He leaves home at ten to eight and he walks to work twenty minutes earlier. His work starts at half pat eight in the morning and finishes at a quarter to five in the afernoon.

王叔叔在城里的一个书店上班。那个书店里叔叔家不算远，只有一公里左右。他经常骑车去，但有时他搭公车，或是走路去。他骑车需要20分钟，走路需要40分钟。今天，他的自行车坏了，所以他想走着去。他现在正在吃早饭。他想7点50从家走，这样他还可以早到10分钟。他的工作从早上8点半到下午4点45。

通常在表示时间的时候，都有许多方式。
像中国人说的三点一刻，就变成了：quarter（四分之一） after（或者past) three，以此类推。
三点10分：ten after/past three。
after/past可以一直说到30分：half(一半）after/past three

差一刻三点就像是：quarter to three
以此类推，差三分三点: three to three

但这种方式一般到了口语上就不怎么用了,除非差个几分钟的。
一般就直接说：it's eleven thirty, twelve ten, two fifty-three

"what time does he usually leave home by bike?"要用数学。
他问“如果王叔叔骑车的话，他要几点从家走？”
你可以说：If Uncle Wang wants to be at work right on time, he should leave at ten after eight; if he wants to get there twenty minutes earlier, he should leave at ten to seven.
