本试验研究了日粮中不同羟甲基脲添加水平对奶牛消化代谢的影响，选择8头泌乳中期的经产中国荷斯坦奶牛，要求其产奶量、胎次、产犊日期相近，健康无疾病，分为4组，每组2头，单因素多水平试验设计。采用全收粪尿法对奶牛的氮代谢进行试验研究。
结果表明：2.1%羟甲基脲组的代谢氮、氮代谢率、代谢氮/吸收氮都要比其他3组低，0.7%、1.4%两组与植物组差异不大，但各组干物质采食量、食入氮、粪氮、吸收氮、干物质消化率、氮消化率均无显著差异(p>0.05)。
