本文针对眼底图像照度不均匀对比度低的特点采用基于照度-反射模型的的同态滤波增强方法，把图像的照明反射模型作为频域处理的基础，利用压缩亮度和增强对比度来克服光照不均匀，减少光照不足引起的图像质量下降，并对感兴趣的景物进行有效增强，同时对传统的直方图均衡化，灰度变换等图像处理方法进行了分析，并进行了比较。
实验表明，本文给出的图像增强方法对于一些图像取得了比现有的一些增强方法更好的增强效果，在很大程度保留图像原貌的同时，对图像细节进行了增强。
