A balloon is rising vertically upward at 22 ms⁻¹. If Jane is standing 45 metres away on the field from where the balloon is lifted, how fast is the balloon flying away from Jane at the moment when the balloon is 70 metres high from the field?

一气球以22m/s速率垂直上升。如果jane在离气球出发点45m处，求当气球高为70m时，气球飞离jane的速率。
解:
气球飞离jane的速率即，气球速度在气球与jane的连线上的分量。
v=22cosA=22*70/sqrt(70^2+45^2)=18.5m/s

因为气球是垂直在上升，那么当气球上升到70米时，气球与人形成直角三角形。
设气球与人连线与地面所形成的角度为θ，
则所求速度v=（sinθ）*22
sinθ=70/根号下（70平方+45平方）=0.8412，
则所求速度v=0.8412*22= 18.5 ms⁻¹
