经济环境的巨变推动着管理科学的发展，战略管理应运而生，而成本是一个影响企业生存发展的重要问题，运用战略成本管理方法，提高我国企业的成本管理水平，具有很强的现实意义。在当今社会，企业面临的竞争日趋激烈。企业需要将成本管理置于战略管理的广泛空间，实行战略成本管理，从战略的高度对企业的成本进行分析，并为企业管理决策服务，帮助企业形成竞争优势，促进企业的发展。机械制造企业是我国国民经济的重要组成部分，在经济全球化背景下，机械制造企业的成本管理与传统成本管理相比，均发生了很大的变化。
