这两句实质上都可以看作是定语从句，第二句是正统的定语从句，第一句是从第二句变化来的，你不知道学到了没有，是分词作定语的成份，简单说就是第二句中的which dated是修饰man，因为这个动作时man主动的，所以改时就变ing 形式也就是dateing，如果是物体，一般是被动，比如This is a pen which was written.改时就要变成ed形式(泛指过去式），就要变成This is a pen written.

第一个句子的dating前的the grave of a man 虽然是名词，但毕竟是作为宾语的，后面就算要对它进行动作的描述，也不能直接说dated ，要么用which dated back to，要么用dating back to，第二个句子也是一样的道理。

第二个句子也可以说成是
