On 2 October 1925, a revolutionary invention was made in London by John Logie Baird. He successed in transmitting a picture of a fifteen-year-old office boy from one room to another. The boy was the first person in the world to be televised. That first television set was made from a biscuit tin, an old tea chest, a bicycle lamp, darning needles and some radio equipment . Baird became famous overnight when he showed his television in public. At last he got enough money he needed to improve his television set. Two years later he made a transmission from London to Glasgow, then in 1928 from London to New York. The British Broadcasting Corporation started the first regular television programmes using Baird's system in 1936. At the time, there were only 100 television sets to replace the pictures.
