所以我觉得这句句子后面少了一个hand，所以应该是 the others

这个是英语里面的省略啊，而且避免重复前面的hand，你要改也应该是in the other's 我觉得。你举的例子跟题目不太一样，The other people是一个单纯的名词性质，而后面的是说在另一只手的里面，所以是一个物主格，“什么什么”的。
