English grammatical question

Jason,21, stood up before the special court [hearing] his case just as a prosecution witness [was to] take the stand and addressed the judge.

1.why here "hearing" but not "heard"

2.why "was to" but not "who was to"? I think "witness" refers to person and I should add "who"??

1.因为是Jason听到了,所以用hearing,主谓结构。这里stood up 谓语。
2. as 是连词,表原因。这么说应该你应该很清楚了吧。just as 后面是一个句子

1."hearing"这里表示jason was hearing his case,这前半句话的意思是jason站在这个特别法庭前听他的案子。

2.后半句:就好像是检方证人“即将”(was to )采取立场,并向法官陈述。
这里可以是用“who was to ”修饰a prosecution witness,也可以看做是由as引导的从句。

hear的主语的是JASON 她是动作的发出者,用ING表示状态
WITNEE 目击者 是被带到前面,是动作承受着
