这里为什么要用some？

有这样一个句子：
Some 365 million people,about two-fifths of our population live in this immense area.
约占我国人口五分之二的三亿六千五百万人居住在这个辽阔的地区。
我不明白这里的“some”是什么意思？请指教，谢谢！
楼下的兄弟，补充说明一下，这里about即为“大约”的意思，因此some不应该再解为“大约”吧？谢谢！
