Skin products are substances to be externally applied to the skin. The term skin
products comprises skin protection products, products for cleaning the skin and skin
care products. Skin products should not be used without the advice of a person
having expert knowledge in the field of occupational safety and health, in particular,
the company doctor. Skin products shall at minimum comply with the requirements of
the EC Cosmetics Directive (76/768/EEC), which has been incorporated into German
national law by the Food, Commodities and Feed Code, and the Cosmetics Ordinance, as amended. Where skin products are used as a personal protective measures at the workplace, they shall comply with the additional requirements set forth in the paragraphs below.
