在一个人的生命中，他会有很多的老师，父母是这个人的人生中的第一位老师。（家长的教育方式）（upbringing）能直接影响到到孩子的（价值观）（sense of worth）和（人生观）（philosophy）。现在的中国的幼儿们的家长，大多是1980年后的年轻人，他们自己拥有高水准的知识和文凭，也经历过一些50年代出生的父母的教育，他们会思考自己的孩子的发展，不会去（限制孩子创造力的发展）（extinguish creativity）。不会让孩子（产生不必要的压力）（beget undue pressure）。这在孩子将来的人生中，将会是受益无穷的。
因为中国的教育体系，很多中国的小学老师是批量培训出来的，培训他们的那些老师大部分都是40年代出生的老教师，在这样的培训下，孩子们收到的教育很有可能是（死记硬背）（learn things by rote）。让孩子们在暗中相互的比赛，让孩子从小有了（来自其他同学的压力）（peer pressure），从小就去勾心斗角，这是非常不好的现象。
