本文以莫里书写部落口传故事、文化传统，以及面临外来文化与部落传统间的困顿等相关书写为例。于此，笔者将先透过莫里森的口述追忆与书写，进而爬梳其书写关注，共分三部分。第一部分为创伤记忆：变异的个体、族群与土地。笔者藉由访谈及其书写，莫里以自身经验反复述说外来他者，如汉文教育、资本主义等，导致其不论于价值体系认知、语言运用亦或对部落传统等，所产生的诸多障碍与自卑，虽意识到并拒斥汉人文化，然身处于间，仍旧无法摆脱资本主义观的影响，也无法衔接上一辈的传统智慧。同时，他亦透过文字再现外来他者如何轧伤部落地景，滩岸地景的消失，也连带着影响部落文化传统。
