UC知道求一句英文解释

这句话里面的“...so they can...”的“they”会不会指代不明啊？？我做过很多这种改错的题目（这个句子是正确的）但至今不知道怎么分辨什么情况代词指代是明确的什么情况是不明确的。
比如： The girl finds that a man is complaining about the service to the worker in the airport and he seems do not enjoy his trip at all. 答案说这句话是错误的，因为he指代不明 可以指the man 也可以指the worker
但是第一句话的they怎么就指代得很明确呢？？怎么区分啊。。。

指代不明这个只要是句子【可能造成歧义】都算是。但是没有确定的公式或者结构，基本是【靠意思】判断。
The girl finds that a man is complaining about the service to the worker in the airport and he seems do not enjoy his trip at all.里面a man是男，worker也可能是男性，又没有明确的信息表明是谁旅行了，所以he即可能是a man也可能是the worker.

用逻辑。
第一句“植物发出化学讯息来抵抗虫子，这些讯息让[这些植物/周围的植物]有警惕心……blah blah blah……
如果意思搞懂的话，就会知道they指的是neighbouring plants,
因为如果"some plant"已经发出"chemical signals",就说明这些所谓的"some plants"已经是"on alert"了，
而因为受了这"chemical signal"才"on alert"的只能是发出这些"signal"的植物的周围的"n
