Thank you for your interest in the Asian American Leadership Conference at Yale, on October 14th, 2006. At this conference, we invite you to discuss issues Asians and Asian Americans face today and how to effectively address those issues. Student leaders and faculty members of Yale will lead the workshops and moderate the discussions. We will have lectures as well as smaller seminar discussion sections to further encourage dialogue and networking among our conference delegates. Through these sessions, we hope to give our attendees a taste of what activism means and how to be an effective leader.
Regardless of whether you have directly encountered issues concerning race, ethnicity, language barriers, or stereotypes, these issues do affect many people in America directly and indirectly. Many students are victims of violence because stereotypes of “meek Asians” are perpetuated through the media, ignorance, and apathy. Many immigrants are silenced because of inadequate language skills
