不要忘记历史，因为历史给我们以智慧；不要漠视历史，否则将受到历史的惩罚；不要割断历史，因为否定昨天，也就将失去明天。
在现代社会，历史并没有被人们重视，因此，历史学家在社会中也处于尴尬的地位。虽然如此，历史学家仍然担任了重要的社会角色。
我认为历史学家的社会角色有两种：一种是科学家的角色，这是历史学家所有角色的基础，即做好本职工作，提供一部真实的历史。另外一种就是作为社会生活参与者的角色，而不是旁观者的角色。历史学家一方面在研究历史，另一方面也要通过所研究的历史来创造新的历史，他应该既仿历史的研究者又充当未来历史的创造者。历史学家应该将这两种角色统一起来。
竞争，是现代社会的主题之一。竞争无处不在，人与人之间、企业与企业之间、国家与国家之间都存在竞争。
竞争存在于各个领域，经济方面、政治方面、文化方面等。竞争越来越激烈，竞争加快了工作和生活的节奏，也使更多的人感到疲惫不堪。但也正是因为有了竞争，才使得整个社会更快速地向前发展。在竞争无处不在的今天，人们已无法躲避，唯一的办法就是增强竞争力。 竞争不是坏事情，只要你积极地参与并融入竞争的环境，你的努力会获得更大的回报。
