another的用法

我们可以通过几个例题来归纳，请看：
① Following the history-making success in the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, China won _another_ great competition in 2001 which was not for a medal. 继2000年悉尼奥运会上取得有史以来最佳战绩之后，中国在2001年的另一项大赛中再次获胜，但这次却不是为了夺取金牌。 【解析】another表示“另一”，“再一”，“又一”之意，修饰名词。another一般只能与单数名词连用。但复数名词前有数量时可用another。如： Another game will be held next Monday. 另一场比赛将于下星期一举行。 We hope that Professor Li can give us another lecture next time. 我们希望李教授下次再给我们作讲座。 The bus has gone. We have to wait another ten minutes for the next one. 那班车走了。我们只得再花10分钟等下一班车。 The General studied the map another few minutes. 将军把地图又研究了几分钟。

注：another与other的区别。
① Some students like English and _other_ students (others) like physics. 有些学生喜欢英语，有些学生喜欢物理。
【解析】other表示“别的”，“另外的”，只能与复数名词连用。但other前有冠词 the即可与单数名词连用。如： I have two pens. One is blue. The other (pen) is black. 我有两枝钢笔。一支是蓝色的，另一支是黑色的。
② John did better than all _the other_ players in the sport. 在那项运动中John比所有别的运动员都出色。
【解析】
