A bathing ape 的创建人Nigo原名长尾智明,毕业於文化服装学院后, 於1993年11月成立"A Bathing Ape in Lukewater". 他与 Undercover 的高桥盾甚为熟稔, 一同在原宿开设了时装店 . Nigo在日文是<第二>的意思,名字的来由,是当时受到Good Enough设计师藤原浩的启蒙后,得到<藤原第二>的称号, 后来人人都简称他为 Nigo.

A Bathing Ape 的 Logo有时会以其他名字出现,分别是"Bape", "A.S.N.K.A", "Ape General","Busy Work Shop", "FootSoldier" 或 "Bapexclusive", 总之千变万化. A Bathing Ape 灵感来自1969年电影. 而 "A.S.N.K.A" 亦是来自电影名句 "Ape Shall Never Kill Ape".

Nigo自己是个猿人迷, 更是个猿人物品收藏家. Nigo经常出现在各大小杂志, 亲自穿上BAPE新一季的出品以收宣传之效. 而Nigo在每期Relax都有自己的专栏 , 教你买东西, 游New York和玩Figures.裏原宿文化大都以 Nigo 为首.

而Nigo 亦不时与其他单位互相合作出别注Tee, 搞音乐会 . 与日本裏原宿音乐人Cornelius,即小山田圭吾和 Mo'wax老板 James Lavel
