在加入WTO以后，我国经济改革及对外开放进一步深化，零售业市场的竞争更为激烈。在如此激烈的市场环境里，每个零售企业都会采取一定的竞争方式，使自己能生存与发展下去。由于价格的独特作用，价格竞争往往成为比较有效且广为使用的竞争形式。每个零售企业都的价格战形式层出不穷，琳琅满目，去应对市场的竞争。
零售企业所进行的价格战的关键就是降低商品价格。而物流成本在商品价格中占很大比重的，在目前商品价格很难通过其他方式降低的情况下，降低商品的物流成本从而降低商品的价格是一个有效且重要的途径。在物流逐渐被重视的今天，提高物流管理方法，降低物流成本在商品价格中的比重对零售业来说显得尤为重要。谁先降低商品物流成本，就意味着商品价格的降低，先人一步对目前竞争激励的杭州零售业来说可以在商品价格战中取得更有力的竞争力。
本文对目前杭州零售业的物流成本做了一定阐述，介绍了杭州目前零售企业普遍采用的价格战背后的物流成本。重点分析零售业的物流成本现状，存在的一些问题，并提出了对这些问题的解决方案。
