经济发展问题是一个关系全局的重要问题，经济发展不仅指产出量的增加，还包括经济结构、收入分配、生活质量、文化等方面的变革。经济发展的目标是：在经济体制、产业结构、收入分配、社会福利、文教卫生等方面获得改进的同时，实现更高经济增长。只有了解经济发展趋势，才能更好的发展经济，使人民的生活水平尽早富裕，同时促进社会的可持续发展。这里以天津市2005、2004年的统计年鉴的数据为依据，选择1978年到2004年的数据，以SPSS软件包建立数据库，运用SPSS的回归分析得时间序列—长期趋势模型方法，对经济发展趋势进行科学的分析，更加准确地认识和把握经济发展趋势，进一步了解天津经济的结构、性质、及发展方向。对天津市经济发展趋势进行后一阶段的数据预测，对数据进行检验，判断预测的数据是否正确，这样判断所建立的模型是否适用，如果适用就可以应用于实际，方便预测后期的经济数据，对实际有较好的现实意义
