The traditional Chinese medicine industry itself is ailing and should speed up modernization, according to a China Daily report published by Sunday's Business Weekly.

根据由星期天商业周刊出版的中国日报的报道,传统中药工业是病态的,应该加速现代化。
中国日报报道说，中药还必须增加知识产权保护的重要性，以此来实践国家的高度名誉。
为了进入国际市场，传统药材工业应该采用自动化设备来实现大批量生产并提高质量监控。
对于国内的药材生产商来说，依照国际工业标准操作生产，使他们的产品更能被国外消费者所接受是非常必要的。薛志峰，一名来自健康部门的药品科学和技术发展中心的教授，提出少数中药药剂已经被发达国家的健康保险系统所承认。
当中国公司知道中国--中药的创始者只拥有一小部分的国际市场，在一年1亿6千万美金的中药交易中只占小于百分之五后，他们非常震惊。
中药的出口数量正在增加，但是价值却在降低。客户统计指出，百分之八十的中药出口是原料，而价值更高的研磨好的中药之占了百分之二十。
外国认为使用更便宜的中药原材料有更大的赚钱机会。他们通过用从中国进口的原材料制成的药材出口到中国，每年净挣大约1亿美金。
一些专家担心国内药品生产者缺乏保护他们的知识产权的意识。一些珍贵的中药配方不光被外国公司免费使用，甚至还被他们申请了专利。
科技部副部长回永正说：“对知识产权有力的保护和合理的应用是中国企业在世界市场上获得成功的重要的一点。”
