Over the past few decades, the economic boom of China and India has attracted much spotlight against the backdrop of global economy. With this in view, this article compares these two countries’ trade structure of service industry and international competitiveness, tries to explain in detail current status of their respective service industries, and reveals that China, although catching up, is still lagging behind India in terns of comprehensive competitiveness despite the fact that China leads in total service trade volume and enjoys stable and comparative advantage in labor-intensive industries. Several suggestions are put forward at the end of the article as to how to enhance the competitiveness of Chinese service industries in international trade.
