Once there was an old farmer, with a horse which was almost as old as him--self.He set out with his young son one morning to sell the horse before it died.Father and son walked ,because the farmer did not want the horse to be too tired .
They met two men on the road who said where are you walking,famer ? you have a horse ,It is a long way to the market.The farmer knew this was true,so he rode on the horse,while his son walked
．
Then they met two ladies.What are you doing up there ,farmer? Can not you see how tired your boy is ?So the farmer got down ,and his son rode instead.
Next three old men stop them .One said Why are you walking ,famer ?Get up .It is too hot for an old man like you to walk today .SO the famer got up behind his son,and they rode on.
Some time later ,a young waman passed them, Why are not you walking ? she asked ,It is not far from the market .Give your poor old horse a rest.
So the farmer and his son got down once agai

曾经有一个老农夫，他有一匹几乎和他自己一样岁数的马。一天早上，他和他的儿子整理行装出发了，想要在这匹马死之前卖掉它。爷俩是走着去的，因为农夫不想让这匹老马太累了。
在一条路上，他们碰到了两个人。这两个人问：“农夫们，你们为什么要走路呢？到集市去的路还很长，你们有一匹马，（为什么不骑？）”老农夫觉得的确如此，所以他骑上了马，而儿子在下面走路。
然后他们碰见了两个女人：“天哪，老头，你在做什么？你难道看不到你的儿子有多累吗？”于是老农夫下来了，换儿子去骑马。
接着，三个老人拦住了他们。一个对老农夫说：“你为什么在走路？快上去吧，这种天气对于一个老人来说实在是太热了，怎么能走路呢？”所以农夫坐在了儿子的后面，然后他们继续开始行进。
又过了一会，一个年轻的女人看到了他们。“你们为什么不走路？”她问，“这里到市场不远了，让这匹可怜的老马休息一下吧。”
于是，农夫和儿子重新下马，一起牵着马向前走了。
其实，你不可能让所有人在任何时间都满意。
