与西方绘画一样，中国画最先成熟的是人物画，而工笔人物又是人物画的原始形态。以工整细致，线条优美为特点。我在4年学习过程中，对工笔画产生了浓厚的兴趣，尤其喜欢工笔人物画。中国工笔人物画，历经了千年的发展，随着朝代的更失以及统治阶级文化取向，政治需要的变化而几经沉浮，但在今天看来，中国传统工笔人物画所具有的文化品格是独特而又成熟的。虽然每个时代工笔人物画表现出来的具体风格面貌各有不同且不可重复（因为每个时代的文化背景不可重复），但几千年来的民族传统及世代相传的老庄哲学儒家思想几乎成为历代工笔画家的作品标签。纵览历代工笔人物画作品其表现出来的文化内涵的统一性在世界艺术史上是极为罕见的。这也是我钟爱工笔人物画的理由之一。永恒却不失时代，在沉浮幻化的世界中以独特而不失自我的方式描绘着画者的喜怒哀乐。象是一首旋律优美的歌曲，美丽又让人心旷神怡。就发展而论，现代工笔人物画迎来了自元代落寞以来的又一次复苏。其方式方法表现的内容是多种多样的，这与一个时代的文化是密不可分的。全球一体化，文化与文化之间的相互渗透相互融合，给现代工笔人物画无论是在创作手法上还是在表现形式上都无疑是注入了大量的生命力。现代工笔人物画不断走向成熟，并面向了人民，回到了生活中，以独特而又成熟的面貌描绘着当代的人文风景。画者得以在创作题材，手法，心灵等各个方面的解脱，在对工笔人物画的创作上可尽心而作，表达自我。也正因如此，在思想上才能更近一步接近或者说才能更贴切的表达中国五千年来的文化思想，传统的审美。
