摘要：我们认为物体的运动仅仅是在空间中位置的变化，而没有认识到运动的本质。本文章以一惯性的故事开篇——萨尔维阿蒂的大船：引出伽利略相对性原理，即运动都是相对于其他所有物质的运动。然后根据马赫原理，一个物体的运动是该物与其他所有物质之间的一种关系，运动具有方向性以及物质具有惯性正是运动物体前方的所有物质和后方的所有物质对物体的作用之差产生的，揭示了运动的本质。
