由于是经文（对于数学就是口诀）既简练又有概括性，很难翻译，至今未见中文译文。
比如第一条“By one more than the one before. ”适于计算10n+5的平方=100n(n+1)+25,也适于计算末位是9的数的倒数等等。另外据说"by"表示乘除，"from,to"表示加减。
