in this paper we have presented the complete design procedure,from specification,coefficient optimaization,comparative high and low level simulation and efficient architectural realization amenable to custom silicon integration,of a very high fidelity decimation filter that is capable of resolving up to 24-bits of accuracy.the simulation results presented in the paper confirm the filters potential,as it would be on the final implementation.at present we have the filter architecture implemented on a 1.0um double metal n-well CMOS process,with an approximate silicon area of 16mm(excluding pads).however we have nor gone to fabrication with the existing device as the whole design is being transgerred to a 0.8um.process.furthe work is also being undertaken to explore the effect of further reduction of datapath and coeffeicient wordlengths.
