如何自修成为一名翻译？

本人的专业是对外汉语，目前的工作也是对外汉语相关，但我一直想学习外语和翻译专业，业余如何自修成为一名翻译？翻译需要哪些专业知识和修养？主要是英语翻译
特别希望能得到半路出家的议员的请教，因为本人发现转行可不是件容易的事。谢谢！

My major is TCFL which is also concerned with my job for now.However, in a long run i have been expecting for studying foriegn language and translation course.
I was wondering how it is possible for me to turn into a freelancing translator by self-study and which of the professional expertise and knowledge must be required for translaton, particularly for English , i mean.
