一． 工作原理 图1是用乐百氏奶瓶制作的抽水机模型外观图，瓶口有一个进水单向阀。瓶底部开一个口，接出一根管子，管子连到注射器上。瓶身中央开一个口作为出水口，出水口接上一个出水单向阀。 当拉动注射器的活塞时，瓶内气压减小，大气压把水从进水口压入；当推动活塞时，水从出水口沿管道流出。
二． 材料的准备及制作 需要的材料主要有：乐百氏奶瓶1个、胶塞1个、废塑料圆珠笔2支、小钢珠（或小玻璃珠）2颗，硬质胶管1米、小钢针（或小铁钉）2枚、502胶水等。
1． 制作单向阀。旋出圆珠笔的圆锥形笔嘴，在笔嘴内放入小钢珠，要求钢珠不能从笔嘴尖漏出，然后用加热到高温的小钢针刺透圆珠笔嘴，固定在小钢珠上方，作为它的阻拦杆。为了防止漏气，可在钢针穿过的笔嘴外围涂上些502胶水，如图2所示。钢针的长度要适当，最好是穿过之后，两头都不露出。按这样的方法制作好两个单向阀。
2． 制作出水管和进水管。先制作出水管，在圆珠笔管中插入一根铅丝，把笔管放到酒精灯上加热，加热时要不断转动，待其软化后从中间弯成如图3所示的形状，弯好后把铅丝抽出，然后把一个单向阀按图4所示的方位粘到笔管口上。这样，一支出水管就做好了。进水管的制作也很简便，在胶塞上钻一个孔径相当于圆珠笔管内径的孔，把单向阀按图5所示的方位粘到孔口上。
3． 各部件制作完毕，在乐百氏奶瓶上开两个孔，孔径与圆珠笔管外径一样大，一个在瓶身的中部，另一个在瓶的底部。把出水管插在瓶身中部的孔中，把另一根圆珠笔管插在瓶底的孔中作为抽气管，然后都用502胶水粘牢。注意所有的粘接都要密封好，不能有漏气现象。
4． 把进水管胶塞安到瓶口，用硬胶管把粘在底部的抽气管连接到注射器上。一个乐百氏奶瓶活塞式抽水机模型就做好了。 如果需要把水送到远些的地方，则在出水管加套一根胶管即可，抽水时，把进水管口放入水中，不断抽动注射器，即可把水从低处送到高处
