向公众报告事实是传播新闻的目的和职责。然而什么是事实，什么是新闻，如何使新闻传播做到正确而有效，是新闻学一直以来都在研究的一个问题。在当今的社会中，大众媒介已经成为社会不可缺少的一部分，是人们重要的信息来源，作为新闻传播主体的新闻媒介在担当着本职和社会职责的同时，如何把握好新闻事实的选择与判定是新闻工作的重点之一。本文仅从新闻价值、新闻阶级性、新闻对舆论的引导等几个方面论述新闻事实选择与判定的重要性。
