决策树是模式识别中进行分类的一种有效方法，对于多类或多峰分布问题，这种方法尤为方便。利用决策树可以把一个复杂的多类别分类问题转化为若干个简单的分类问题来解决。它不是企图用一种算法，一个决策规则去把多个类别一次分开，而是采用分级的形式，使分类问题逐步得到解决。决策树的这些特点十分适合于遥感影像分类的需要，成为遥感分类的常用方法。本文对遥感影像自动分类技术和决策树的理论做了系统的讲述，主要提出了一种多光谱遥感影像分类决策树自动生成的方法，最后对该方法进行了评价，并对利用决策树进行遥感影像分类的技术进行了展望。
