1.如果原句是这样的话，第一个问题就没有问题了吧
2.这边的preserving应该是动名词，相当于preservation
3.我认为，in all their purity应该插入语，their blessing of self-government应该是them的同位语。
4.which是非限定性从句，修饰整句句子。
assist in也可以是出席的意思……引申为处于某种状态？
让我倍感欣慰的是，你投身于这项造福后世的事业之中。为了他们的纯真和对自制的渴求，我们不断地努力维护，只是因为我们也曾渴望过这些。
