一个完整的月饼包装主要包括三大部分：内包装、月饼标志以及外包装。外包装包括的方面比较广泛．对于精装的月饼盒和简装的月饼盒在这一部分可能有些不同，但总的来说一般包括外盒、手提袋等。
每当提起月饼，脑海里总是出现圆圆的，包着一层纸的月饼。这是我对月饼一直以来的记忆。现在市场上许多的月饼包装都是包装大于了作用，他们一味的采用形式化的美，却忽略了它的功能性。我们小组做的月饼包装采用了红色为主题，因为自古红色都是给人以热情，代表了高贵。月饼的外包装在销售中起着重要的导向作用。月饼盒就像是一件漂亮的外套．要能够吸引顾客的注意力并引起其强烈的购买欲。月饼外包装盒的设计可以说有比较大的灵活性．但应尽量做到全面、协调，能够给月饼购买者比较宽的选择范围。因此我们可以见到不同风格的月饼盒。月饼盒的形状也不仅局限于长方体．圆形的月饼盒也不少见．而且常见于档次较高的一些名品月饼的包装上。我们做的包装盒也采用了方形的包装，那样看起来回有一种古典式的美，可以让大家吃月饼时可以想起我们的传统文化。
月饼外包装的包装材料常选用纸．对于一些高档的月饼还有以木材为外包装材料的．我们小组的包装全部沿用了红色的纸，因为纸可以回收再利用，红色代表了我们的传统文化，显示其简洁与文化气质。有些人在月饼包装设计中使用了大量的木质材料来制作月饼的外包装，而且在月饼的内盒中加入了布以衬托月饼．将月饼浓厚的乡村文化特色体现了出来．做到了月饼包装设计与月饼文化的和谐统一。
