小学五年级学生的生存状态，是指小学五年级学生生存的方式和内容以及方式、内容呈现出来的水平、程度和现状。关注学生的生存状态，不仅有助于帮助孩子和家长建立良好的亲子关系，逐步缩小甚至消除代沟；有助于帮助孩子和老师建立良好的师生关系，和同学建立良好的同伴关系；还有助于在学习上帮助学生减轻学习负担和学习压力，全面提高学生的整体素质及生存能力。本研究以南京市Y小学五年级学生为研究对象，采用问卷调查法和访谈法等多种研究方法，审视Y 小学五年级学生的生存状态及影响因素。具体研究了Y 小学五年级学生的学习状态和交往状态两大方面，提出了改善Y 小学五年级学生生存状态的若干对策，并在此研究基础上得出了本研究的结论与反思。
本研究认为：当前南京市Y小学五年级学生学习负担较重，学习压力较大，并在一定程度上影响了学生的睡眠、身体健康；Y 小学五年级学生对同伴比较渴求，希望结交志同道合的同伴，但实际上同伴关系却并不容乐观；绝大多数学生与全体教师的关系比较融洽，但与其他任课教师相比，Y小学五年级学生与班主任教师和语数外教师的关系更融洽；Y小学五年级学生的亲子关系总体上说来还是比较融洽的，冲突仅仅围绕学习问题、生活限制问题及家长制方面。
本研究还认为：社会传统观念及竞争环境，教育目的及价值的偏颇，教学评价“单一性”，学校规模扩大的阻隔，教育行政部门管理不善，教师与家长的自身素质，家长不当的教育方法以及小学生的自身因素等诸多因素影响着Y小学五年级学生的生存状态。针对如何改善Y小学五年级学生的生存状态，本文从政府、学校、家庭、社会和学生自身五个层面提出了相应的对策。
