广东外语外贸大学是1995年6月由原广州外国语学院和原广州对外贸易学院合并组建的广东省涉外型重点大学。原广州外国语学院成立于1965年，是原国家教委（现教育部）直接管理的3所外语院校之一。原广州对外贸易学院成立于1980年，是原国家外经贸部（现商务部）直接管理的4所外贸院校之一。
学校位于中国著名的历史文化名城和华南经济中心广州市。学校现有3个校区，总面积2172亩，其中北校区坐落在国家风景名胜区广州市白云山北麓，占地面积821亩；南校区位于广州大学城，占地面积1095亩；大朗校区坐落在广州市大朗，占地面积256亩。校园内小桥流水，绿树成荫，环境幽雅，空气清新，是陶冶情操、求学、授业的理想之地。

Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, derived from the former Guangzhou Foreign Languages Institute and the former Guangzhou Institute of Foreign Trade, is a foreign-based prestigious university in Guangdong Province. Former Institute of Foreign Languages was founded in Canton in 1965, which was one of the three foreign language institutions which were directly managed by the former State Education Commission (now the Ministry of Education). And former Guangzhou Institute of Foreign Trade was established in 1980, which was one of the four foreign trade institutions which were managed by the original National Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation (now Ministry of Commerce).
The School is located in Guangzhou City which is a famous Chinese historical and cultural city and economic center in South China. There are 3 branches of existing campus, covering an area of 2172 acres totally, with the North Campus located in the National Scenic Area North of Guangzhou City Baiyun Moun
