A very common perssure measuring device is the Bourdon-tube type of
pressure gage.Fundamentally,this gage consists of a coiled elliptical
tube that is fixed at one end and free to move at the other end.the
pressure to be measured is transmitted to the inside of the inside of
the tube there will be movement of the free end of the tube when the
pressure within the tube differsfrom that outside the tube.the movemet
of the tube is transimtted to the needle of the gage.becausethe
pressure on the outside of the tubr is atmospspheric,the reading on
the gage is the perssure above of below that of the atmosphere .in
general,then,gage pressure is defined as the oressure above that of
the atmosphspher
