随着大众生活质量的提高，人们出行、旅游以及运输的途径不单单局限在水路和陆路，航空业有着时间上的优势，逐渐成为主流交通运输的趋势。为了适应现代社会人们高度强烈的时间观念，机票预订管理系统软件为机票预订办公室带来了极大的方便。本文目的在于研究机票预订管理系统软件的开发途径和应用方法,主要原因是因为现今机票预订管理的烦琐给具有强烈时间观念的航空公司工作人员带来了诸多不便，航空公司缺少一种完善的机票预订管理软件，为了对订票记录，旅客信息航班信息等的管理方便，因此开发了本软件。
本文用VC程序设计语言作为系统的支持软件、以WIN9X/NT/XP操作系统为平台、以支持VC的操作系统来控制软件运行。围绕数据库设计和上机编程实践这两方面工作进行，通过对某种数据库产品及开发工具（Access，SQL Server，Oracle，VFP，PB，VB，VC，Delphi等 ）的熟悉和了解，对于给出的一个具体问题，首先通过对其综合分析，进行数据库的概念模型设计、关系数据库的逻辑结构设计，使其达到3NF或BCNF模式，然后完成在RDBMS下的设计和各个具体功能模块的编程，要求调试、测试成功，最后提交一个小型数据库应用系统。
本文通过计算机网络将客户端与服务器的数据库相连，将从客户端得到的信息进行处理，实现航班查询，机票生成，销售统计，综合信息查询等子系统。以计算机成本核算为中心，实现销售业务的计算机自动化，为航空公司降低成本、提高销售额、经营决策提供及时精确的依据。该软件的功能在系统内部有源代码直接完成。通过操作手册，使用者可以了解本软件的基本工作原理。操作人员只需输入一些简单的汉字、数字，即可达到自己的目标。
